Offroad Vietnam invites YOU to explore one of the best mountain roads in Vietnam with this Central North Motorcycling in 5 days. Starting from Hanoi, leaving the busy towns heading up on a plateau and finally descending in the peaceful Red River delta. Out of the big cities, the roads are quiet but there is hidden danger from fast trucks and cars as well as animals. Ride slow and you will be safe. Take a rest whenever you want and wherever you need. All in all, a great motorcycle vacation in such a short time. DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Hanoi – Nghia Lo. ~250 km, ~7h.
Easy drive on a sealed road. Exit Hanoi at the West end on the river road via Son Tay. Drive through rural areas with beautiful rice fields along the road. Nice and quiet cruising.
Head up the mountain range to Nghia Lo via Ba Khe. This is one of the least populated areas in North Vietnam. Therefore, the scenery is very very impressive.
Day 2: Nghia Lo – Than Uyen. ~140 km, ~6h.
Wild and bumpy road. We go through the Mu Cang Chai massif, almost as high as the Fansipan: From the top, we have one of the most beautiful views of North Vietnam. Once in Than Uyen, we can go around visiting villages surrounding.
Night in a Hotel.
Day 3: Than Uyen – Sapa. ~140 km, ~5h.
Walk/ stroll in the morning. The area of Than Uyen is mainly populated by Flower H’mong and Dzao people. Then direction Sapa. Easy track for 100 km and asphalted mountainous road for the last 40 km. We can stay in Sapa or if we feel going further and the weather is nice, we can keep riding until Muong Hum where we stay with Giay people. 40 km of dirt road. Beautiful riding.
Day 4: Sapa – Vu Linh. ~250 km, ~7h.
We start riding down to Lao Cai and then we go to Thac Ba lake. Until Luc Yen, the road is easy and asphalted. Next, a secondary road along the Thac Ba lake, Dzao, and Tay territory until the traditional village of Vu Linh where we stay with our friends in a host family. The welcome is exceptional.
Day 5: Vu Linh – Hanoi. ~180 km, ~6h. End of Central North Motorcycling.
Come back to Hanoi. In fact, road and easy track via Son Duong, at the foot of Tam Dao range. Then join the river road again from Son Tay back to Hanoi to avoid the heavy traffic.
