Vietnam Offroad is one of the original motorbike tour operators in Vietnam, offering genuine Honda 4-stroke road and dirt bikes from 125cc to 250cc for riders who want to explore Vietnam beyond the main highways. We also have smaller 110cc scooters available for less experienced riders and those looking for an easier bike to handle. We use our own motorcycle fleet, consisting entirely of Japanese Honda motorcycles, rather than renting bikes from other companies. Our fleet has included Honda XR250s, XR125L 2013–2015 models, and CGL125 2014 models. If requested in advance, some of our motorcycles can also be lowered to suit shorter riders and provide a more comfortable riding position.

We believe bike quality matters, especially when riding long distances or exploring Vietnam’s remote mountain roads and dirt tracks. Some tour operators choose smaller-displacement motorcycles or inexpensive Chinese copy bikes to reduce operating costs. We do not follow that approach. Our Honda rental motorcycles are selected for their reliability, durability, and suitability for Vietnamese roads. While rental bikes can receive heavy use from riders with very different levels of experience, maintaining our own fleet allows us to have greater control over the condition and preparation of our motorcycles. Many motorbike tour operators in Vietnam rely on rented bikes or cheaper Chinese alternatives, whereas we prefer to use our own genuine Honda motorcycles.

Who Should Rent Our Bikes?

Intermediate and experienced riders are recommended for our longer Vietnam motorbike tours, particularly trips involving mountain roads, dirt tracks, steep passes, and changing road conditions. However, riders with limited experience are not necessarily excluded. Beginners or people with very little motorcycle experience can take a motorbike riding lesson in Hanoi before starting their trip. The lesson costs US$30 and can help you become familiar with the controls, gears, clutch, braking, and basic riding techniques before heading into Vietnamese traffic. Alternatively, you can take motorcycle lessons in your home country before travelling to Vietnam. The good news is that only a very small number of people who have taken our riding lesson have failed to learn, and none of them has fallen while riding during the lesson. If you already drive a manual car, you may find learning a manual motorcycle relatively quick because you are already familiar with using a clutch and changing gears.

Honda CRF250L Dual Enduro

Below is a photo of our Honda CRF250L dual-enduro motorbike, one of the most popular choices for our Vietnam off-road motorbike tours. Our bikes are not brand new, but they are carefully maintained and perform very well on long trips. For us, bike performance, reliability, and safety come before appearance. We know these motorcycles extremely well because our own team looks after and works on the bikes ourselves rather than relying on outside employees or rental companies.

The 250cc Honda CRF250L is designed for intermediate and experienced riders. It performs well on a wide variety of Vietnamese roads and terrain, from sealed mountain highways to rough secondary roads and dirt tracks. These are among the most popular motorcycles booked by our customers on guided motorbike tours. If you have already ridden smaller motorcycles and want more power, the CRF250L is also an excellent upgrade. It has a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine and provides a good balance between power, handling, and reliability. All of our CRF250L motorcycles feature electric start only, with no kick-start lever.

Honda XR150L & CRF150L Dirt Bikes

Our Honda XR150L and CRF150L 150cc dirt bikes, mainly from 2016 – 2019, are suitable for novice, intermediate, and experienced riders. They are an excellent choice for exploring Vietnam because they combine manageable size with enough power for mountain roads, countryside routes, and light off-road riding. The comfortable seat also makes them practical for longer days in the saddle. In our opinion, this is one of the best small dirt bikes for riding in Vietnam, offering noticeably more performance than the Honda XR125L, which we discontinued in 2017. The seat height is suitable for riders approximately 1.6m to 1.9m tall, depending on the individual rider and setup. The motorcycles have both electric and kick starts, which can be particularly useful when travelling in remote areas. Overall, the XR150L and CRF150L are reliable and versatile 150cc motorbikes for Vietnam.

Honda Winner 150cc Touring Scooter

The Honda Winner 150cc is a lightweight touring motorcycle suitable for novice, beginner, and intermediate riders. This model is a good option for riders who already have some experience with smaller motorcycles and want a little more power without moving up to a larger dirt bike. With a relatively low seat height suitable for riders around 1.6m, the Winner is also easy to handle for many shorter riders. The bike features both electric and kick starts and works particularly well on sealed roads, secondary roads, and countryside routes in Vietnam. It is light, practical, and easy to ride, making the Honda Winner 150cc a useful choice for riders who want to explore Vietnam without needing a full-size enduro motorcycle.

Honda CGL125 Sport Touring

The Honda CGL125 is a 125cc sport-touring motorcycle, with our bikes from the 2014 model year. It is suitable for beginners, novices, intermediates, and experienced riders looking for a simple, reliable motorcycle to explore Vietnam. The CGL125 is an excellent alternative to the older Honda GL Pro, which we discontinued in late 2013. The CGL125 offers a comfortable riding position and enough performance for city riding, countryside roads, and longer touring in Vietnam. At the time, these were newer motorcycles in our fleet, making them an excellent choice for riders who preferred a more modern 125cc Honda touring bike.

We have always focused on providing genuine Honda motorcycles and maintaining a fleet with near-new or relatively recent models whenever possible. We do not use other brands or cheap Chinese copy motorcycles. When choosing a motorbike rental in Hanoi, we recommend looking beyond the daily price and asking about the bike model, engine size, and year of manufacture. A cheaper motorcycle is not necessarily better value if it is old, poorly maintained, or unsuitable for your trip. Our Honda motorbike rental rates remain competitive while we focus on providing reliable motorcycles and good overall quality.

Honda Wave 110cc Semi-Automatic Scooters

Our Honda Wave 110cc semi-automatic motorcycles, with models from approximately 2013 – 2018, are designed primarily for novice riders. They are small, lightweight, and easy to handle, making them a practical option for people who have little or no previous motorcycle experience. The Wave also has a U-Box storage compartment under the seat, providing useful space for small personal belongings. All bikes come with both electric and kick starts, giving riders two starting options.

If you have never ridden a motorcycle before and want to start with something small and manageable, the Honda Wave 110cc can be a good introduction to riding in Vietnam. It is particularly suitable for paved roads and everyday transportation around Hanoi rather than demanding off-road trips. Many customers choose the Wave because it is one of our most affordable motorbike rental options. For longer-term rentals in Hanoi, it can be a practical and economical choice for commuting and daily use.

Honda Blade 110cc Semi-Automatic Scooters

Our Honda Blade 110cc semi-automatic motorcycles, mainly from the 2015 – 2017 model years, are another practical option for novice riders and beginners. The Blade is compact, lightweight, and easy to maneuver, making it well suited to Hanoi traffic and paved roads throughout Vietnam. Like the Wave, it has a small U-Box under-seat storage compartment, although the storage space is slightly smaller. If you want a motorcycle that is small, light, compact, and responsive, the Honda Blade is a good choice.

Honda Lead 125cc 2014 Automatic Scooter

The Honda Lead 125cc is a fully automatic scooter designed for convenient everyday transportation and longer-term scooter rental in Hanoi. It features a quiet starter system and idling-stop technology, helping make it smooth and practical for city riding. One of its biggest advantages is the generous under-seat storage, which was increased to approximately 37 litres, compared with around 35 litres on the earlier 110cc model. This provides plenty of room for personal belongings and makes the Honda Lead particularly practical for commuters, expats, and riders who need more storage space. Overall, it is a comfortable and modern 125cc automatic scooter for Hanoi.

Honda Air Blade 125cc Automatic Scooter

The Honda Air Blade 125cc is a fully automatic scooter suitable mainly for novice riders and beginners. If you have never ridden a scooter before and want an easy-to-use commuter scooter in Hanoi, this is a good place to start. The Air Blade uses electric start only, together with fuel-injection technology and idling-stop functionality. It is a medium-sized scooter that is comfortable and straightforward to ride on paved roads and city streets in Vietnam.

50cc Scooters

Our 50cc scooters are the smallest motorcycles available in our rental fleet. Their main advantage is that, under the applicable Vietnamese licensing rules for qualifying 50cc motorcycles, a motorcycle licence is not required. However, riders should not expect the same power, speed, comfort, or carrying capacity as larger motorcycles. These scooters are best suited to short-distance city riding and a single rider rather than long journeys or carrying a passenger. Because of their small size and low weight, they can feel quite compact for taller foreign riders. For some riders, a small semi-automatic motorcycle may be more comfortable than a 50cc fully automatic scooter.

On the other hand, if you are under 1.6m tall and want a very small, lightweight motorcycle, a 50cc scooter can be a practical option. They are easy to maneuver and suitable for simple transportation around Hanoi. We offer small models such as the GN-50 and SYM Elegant 50cc, depending on availability.
