HANOI MOTORBIKES FOR RENT
Based in Hanoi, Vietnam Offroad has been offering Hanoi motorbikes for rent. Our rental motorbikes include off-road motorbikes, touring motorcycles, and scooters. In fact, most of our customers are foreigners (travellers, tourists, and expats) who work or travel to Hanoi. Especially, we have been using only Japanese Honda bikes since late 2006.
When in Vietnam, many people were surprised by the high costs of manual clutch motorbikes here. Vietnam officially allowed imports of brand-new bikes over 175cc (no second-hand, except foreigners with valid working visas import for their personal use) in May 2007. However, 90% import tax, 10% VAT plus 20% excise/luxury tax for a motorcycle from 125cc, and a huge fee on registration in Hanoi generally make a large displacement bike twice as expensive as it would cost in your country. Therefore, at least 90% of bikes you see on the road are automatic or semi-automatic scooters. Somehow, this prevents businesses offering Hanoi motorbikes for rent from having big bikes.
All Japanese Honda touring bikes (for long-distance trips) and motor scooters (for expats to ride in Hanoi) are owned, maintained, and prepared by ourselves which means we put ourselves in your position. We really want you to have a good riding experience as much as we love our business.
As we have just one office in Hanoi, unfortunately, there is no one-way rental available. Therefore, you collect and return the rental bike(s) in Hanoi only. Please follow the links below to have more details about our Hanoi motorbikes for rent business.

Send us your inquiry to [email protected] and we will get back to you very soon.

We don’t rent this type of bike in case you want to ride in the Northern Vietnam mountains or down to Southern Vietnam (unlimited mileage).
In case you want a smaller and lightweight scooter then Honda Vision 110cc is the best. The monthly rate for riding in Hanoi is 60-80$US/month depending on the year of manufacturing. All in all, it’s the easiest scooter to commute in Hanoi!
50cc Scooters, No Licence Required
This is the smallest scooter we offer. There is nothing special about it, except it’s super light and doesn’t require a licence to ride legally in Vietnam. As a 50cc, it’s not powerful so only one person is recommended on this bike. Also, the seat is short and the suspension is not strong enough for riding two-up.
Surprisingly, due to the limited sale and availability, 50cc scooters are not cheap to buy and hire. They cost about the same as 110cc scooters above, which means you expect to pay 50$US/month for the semi-automatic and 60$US/month for the fully automatic.

My son and I are travelling to vietnam and would like to ride a scooter.
He is 17 and does not have a full licence yet.
Do you hire scooters for him. Or do we need to buy.
Dear Patrick. Unfortunately, Vietnam doesn’t accept foreign licenses, including international driving license. From 2015, international drivi8ng license will be accepted but we are still waiting for a confirmation. In fact, we don’t require a license to hire our bikes. What dates are you looking at?
Hi looking to rent a semi for 1 month. Don’t have any experience though, can I arrange a lesson too? Also, do I need a license? If so, how can I get one?
Hello Tom. We did exchanged emails and you were interested in a manual CGL125. Now you want the semi-automatic scooter? Sorry we don’t have one available at the moment, the only automatic scooter is a Honda Wave RXS AT 110cc. Let us know your thoughts please.
